Kilchoman Gets Plowed

Lots of emails came in yesterday asking me what "PLOWED" is, as two new Kilchoman whiskies popped up on the K&L wines site with no notes and no description other than that word. The Plowed Society is a group of single malt whisky drinkers and collectors that organizes tastings around the country and has often used the collaborative power of the group to negotiate special casks on its behalf. In the past, their single cask bottlings of Ardbeggedon and Brorageddon have gone on to be legendary among super geeks in-the-know and as the reputation for these whiskies grew, so did the repute of the society. I got an email this week from Kilchoman letting me know that the Plowed group has now picked out two casks of special Kilchoman single malts aged in Buffalo Trace barrels. I haven't tasted them and I don't know much about them, other than the fact that the Plowed society was willing to stake their reputation on the quality within these bottles (and since we've sold about twenty bottles of each within the last 24 hours, that seems to be enough for most people). They're both bottled at 60% and both were distilled in 2010.

Maybe I'll pop one later today to see what the dealio is.
